My teabag art for today is the dangerous Cassowary
My teabag art for today is the Cassowary - said to be the most dangerous bird in the world. It is said that during World War II, American and Australian tropps stationed in New Guinea were warned to steer clear of them. Not only are they frightening, but the are also out to get you. I found this funny commentary of the bird when looking for photos as a reference - not sure who wrote it but quite funny: Enjoy the hilarious commentary:
"The Cassowary is mostly native to the tropical forests of Australia, and it doesn't care who you are. The Cassowary is just out to get you." The Cassowary standing six foot tall, weighing 85kg looks like the bastard offspring of a pie and a cake. The Cassowary is so fierce, that it holds the air hostage so it does not have to breathe. The cassowary hates you with a deep animal hatred. If it could, it would take away your freedom. Injuries they cause in humans are puncture wounds, lacerations, bone fractures, post traumatic stress disorder and possible death. Australia used to have lions who tried to hunt the Cassowary. At present time there are no Lions in Australia. A sure way to provoke the Cassowary is to be born."

I just completed this art journal page - we must save the Bees - our lives depend on it
Another Art Journal page "Save the Bees". This page was primed with white gesso. The background flowers were created with the Crafter's workshop stencil TCW178 and texture paste. When dry I srayed with Heidi Swapp color shine in Georgia peach, chartreuse, Black Velvet, and Citron and added some lemon yellow watercolor. The Bee is from Dina Wakley stamp set Scribbly insects and was colored with scribble sticks. Under the bee is some orange netting off of some oranges from the grocery store and I used two dies - Kaisercraft "Texture netting" and Tim Holtz mixed media die set. The title was cut on my silhouette cameo and then embossed with black and gold embossing powder.

My teabag art for today inspired by Jane Davenport
My teabag art for today was inspired by Jane Davenport. This was an unused teabag primed with clear gesso and while I was making my gel plate journal page yesterday i did the same process on this teabag for the background. I used a Jane Davenport technique of using the background as her dress and bow in her hair. This was done with acrylic paints. Details added with Jane's aquapastels and inkcredible pen.

I just completed this Art Journal page.
I Just finished this art journal page "Time as a wonderful way of showing us what really matters". The background was done with my gel press plate. I added more detail with stencils and acrylic paint. I did some doodling with black ink pen, white gel pen and posca pens. The clock die is from a set by Kaisercraft called "Gentleman", the cogs die and stamp is from Kaisercraft "Cogs" set, the big arrow and the # is from a die set from Kaisercraft called "Icons", and the arrows are from a die set by Tim holtz called "Pocket Frame". I also used black soot ink to ink the edges of the chipboard pieces.
My teabag art for today is another mixed media piece.
My teabag art for today is another mixed media piece. This was a used teabag primed with clear gesso. Background was created with watercolor. Fish and title were stamps from a Dina Wakley set called scribbly fishies which were stamped on watercolor paper and colored with watercolor. I sewed them on with my sewing machine with black thread. I added crochet cotton twine, netting from a bag that came off of oranges.

My teabag art for today is a playing card
My teabag art for today. This one was really hard. I couldn't seem to draw both ends the same so I drew the basic outline for one end and flipped it over and traced it to the bottom of the first. This was an unused teabag primed with clear gesso. The basecoat was done with gouache and details added with polychromo pencils and black ink pen.

My teabag art for today is an Abstract
My teabag art for today is an Abstract. I decided to do a mixed media piece. This was done on a used Nerada teabag that I very seldom am able to get apart without tearing them up they are sealed so tightly at all of the seams. This one had a few holes and some tearing along the sides but otherwise I got it open. It was painted with watercolor, I put stamped tissue paper behind the holes, added some gold leaf, some metallic thread with gold beads, some black DMC floss for the fuzzy fringe and some with dangling black beads.

My teabag art for today "Beach Babes"
My teabag art for today. I have a stamp that I used for this one - not sure where it came from or the name of it, and it didn't stamp well so I drew in hair and such which ended up different to what was on the stamp. This is an unused teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache. Details added with black ink pen and prisma watercolor pencils.

My teabag art for today.
My teabag art for today. This one is from the side of the Kirrasurf apartments up the road from here. I see it every morning when I take my bike ride. Even though I am NOT a fan of modern architecture, this building always makes me look because I love the way a portion of each letter disappears at the top. It is an eye catcher for sure. This was an unused teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache. Details added with black ink pen and prisma watercolor pencils.

My teabag art for March 2, 2019 is the Rainbow Lorikeet.
My teabag art for the 2nd of Mary 2019 is this Rainbow Lorikeet. I love watching them turn upside down in our Bottlebrush tree to get the nectar out of the blooms. This was an unused teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache. Details added with black ink pen and prisma watercolor pencils.

My teabag art for Yesterday was of the glass gem corn - a Native American corn
My teabag art for today. This was a used teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache. Details added with black ink pen and prisma watercolor pencils. I'll have to say I don't like these Nerada teabags - really thin, hard to open without tearing and they don't like a lot of layers. This one looked better in my head, LOL. I made the bacground too dark and the wrong color I think. I will probably redo this one at some point because I think these glass gem corn cobs would be so lovely if done right.
My teabag art for today is the Rainbow Lorikeet.
