Mixed media teabag art for today is sewing themed.

My teabag art for today.  This was a used teabag primed with clear gesso.  The background was made with a text stamp, versamark ink and copper embossing powder and then sprayed with several colors of Glimmer mist and color shine.  I then stitched on a piece of brown satin, plastic webbing and a piece of a clothing pattern.  Diecut ephemera added on top - not sure where they came from - had them in my stash.

New Art Journal Page "Don't ask why, ask instead Why Not" John F. Kennedy

Just completed this Art Journal page after watching several of Marta Lapkowska's videos on mixed media on youtube.  "Don't ask why, ask instead Why Not".  A quote by John F. Kennedy.  The supplies I used:  chipboard, clothing tags, puzzle pieces, teabag tags, tissue paper, gesso, acrylic paint, drywall tape, masking tape, glass beads by Liquites, Heidi Swapp color shine Georgia Peach and black velvet, Tattered Angels Glimmer mist Haunted Shadows adn Turquoise Blue, twine, transferred butterfly image, matte medium and gold metallic run ons.

I covered the background and all of the chipboard/background elements with Collections tissue paper and then added a light coat of gesso to everything allowing some of the tissue paper to still peek through.  I then added turquoise acrylic paint to the background rubbing some off while still wet with a baby wipe so you could still see some of the tissue paper.  

I then added glass beads by liquitex and while that was drying, I took an inkjet printed butterfly and painted matte medium on the front of it and matte medium on a piece of watercolor paper, then layed the image face down on the watercolor paper and burnished with a spoon.  After a couple of minutes I rubbed off the white paper to reveal the transferred image.

I wet the background and added my color shine and glimmer mists one at a time and sprayed each of them again with water until I like the movement and then dried with my heat gun.  I then added my butterfly and title and then put gold rub-ons over various areas of the page.

Hi Everyone, I've completed another layout for a challenge that I heard about on the following blog:

scrapki-wyzwaniowo.blogspot.com.  You can find the details for their challenge here.

I absolutely loved this challenge.  I don't tend to lean toward the abstract so this was definitely out of my comfort zone and I so enjoyed doing this layout and was really happy with the way it turned out.

I loved the photo - it is of my son and my daughter-in-law dressed up for a Halloween party as the Joker and Harley Quinn.  I think my daughter-in-law did such a great job on their costumes and make-up!

"Geishas" Mixed Media Layout for entry into the February Challenge at Off the Rails Scrapbooking

Hi everyone,

Another Mixed Media layout completed.  This one is for the February Challenge at Off the Rails Scrapbooking which you can find here.  I found this one a little challenging for me.  I found the color combination a little outside my comfort zone, LOL!  Once I mixed the colors together though, it did seem to work!

Here is my entry that I titled "Geishas".  It is a photo of my granddaughter's Gabby and Suri wearing Kimono's that my husband and I got them while we were in Japan.  They love to dress up in pretty things.  Such girly girls!

Mixed Media layout "Only you can be you and we like it that way - Be an Original

Another Mixed Media Layout "Only you can be you and we Like it that Way - Be an Original" This is a photo of my 5 month old Grandson Jack.  Look at that beautiful smile - he is always happy and I wanted to capture that beautiful smile.

Products used: White Cardstock, Scrapmatts frame, handmade tissue tape, Li'l Davis Designs Chip-Art Coaster, Crafter's Workshop stencil "Mini Ledger", Kaiser craft stamps: Arty, Perfume, and flutter. Additional stamps are Hero Arts "Long Writing Background, Studio 112 "Mini Assortment", Stampers anonymous "Curiosities", glossy accents, texture paste mixed with red acrylic paint, staz on black ink.

"The Taylor Garden" Scrapbook layout with Graphic 45 Secret Garden Papers

Another Layout using Graphic 45 Secret Garden Papers.  The background was created with the Blue Secret Garden text paper and I put the Crafter's Workshop stencil "Flower Shower" down and misted with Forest Green Glimmer mist.  I then added a circle of the striped paper and a rectangle of the green Meadow Lark paper with a fussy cut border out of the blue.  I used the opposite side of the Meadow Lark paper that had journalling tags and used them as mats for my photos.  Everything was inked with vintage photo.  I painted some scroll chipboard pieces that I had with brown acrylic paint and fussy cut some flowers and added to the scrolls.  I tied raffia to one end of the scroll and formed a half circle around the top to complete the circle and hung a title (cut with spellbinders opulent ovals die).  I used Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares die for the frames on the girl photos and Megan Elizabeth All around scalloped circle for the frame on the boy photo.  The butterfly chipboard pieces were misted with Frost Glimmer mist.  Thanks for looking!

Three Generations Scrapbook Layout using Graphic 45 Secret Garden papers

Hi everyone.  Back again with a layout I created using Graphic 45 Secret Garden Papers.  It was a kit that I bought at the Scrapbook and PaperCraft Expo.  The kit was designed by Cathy Cafun, but I altered it some because it was missing some flowers and it didn't have the ferns or leaves or stick pins.

This photo was taken of Me with my Mother and Son in May.  The other products used:  Manor House Creation flowers, 2 handmade flowers, handmade stick pins, handmade beaded rose, brown lace ribbon.  I used Dylusions spray - Melted Chocolate on the chipboard "stone wall".  I made my flowers out of the Tim Holtz Bigz Die tattered florals using the largest and medium flower for the two in upper left corner.  I used Glimmer Mist - Burnt Red to color them.  They are made out of organza and Tulle.  I made two stick pins, with charms.  The letters were foam adhesive letters from Cre8tive.  Thanks for looking!

"Love" Gabby @ 4 Layout (Pagemap design by Cathy Cafun)

Hi Everyone, hope you are having a great day!  Decided to post another layout that I just finished.  The original design was created by Cathy Cafun.  This layout features the Authentique paper line called Renew.  All of the products came from Craftqueen http://www.craftqueen.com.au/ 

The products used:  Tim Holtz stampers anonymous "Birdsong" stamp - this was used for the stamping in Stazon Ink behind the tears in the paper.  The "Transform" paper was used as the background paper on top of a yellow piece of cardstock.  The banner strips were made from the "Foundation One" and "Energize" papers.  I colored the heart ribbon with glimmer mist "Mustard seed".  The flowers were cut out of the "Rejuvenate Paper".  For the "Love" transparency, that was stamped on a piece of paper, scanned and reverse printed on the back of a transparency sheet.  I glued round pearl centers to the middle of some paper flowers.  Washi tape was placed in various locations on the layout, and dotted organza ribbon was tied in a bow and the birdcage wood piece was placed as if hanging from the ribbon.  A metal flower with a resin rose was glued to the bow.  Hope you enjoy!

You Make me Smile and "hi" greeting Cards

Hi everyone - another post - I used up the last of my Prima Romance novel papers.  I ended up with one feminine layout, one masculine layout and 3 cards.  I was really happy with these cards.  I went to the Pagemaps website and used their March 2012 cardmaps for both of these cards.  In addition to the Prima papers, I used Heartfelt creations Aster stamp and die and Striped Sun Kissed Fleur stamp and die.  I also used my Close to my heart Cricut Artiste collection stamps for both of the greetings on these cards.  Black embossing powder, Paper Mania 5x7 clear stamp set "bunting", Sizzix embossing forlder "Bricked", Cuttlebug embossing folder "Goochie Script", EK Success Postage Stamp Punch, Spellbinders on the edge die "notebook", scrappers floss, glimmer mist in pearl for the flowers, spun sugar, worn Lipstick and aged mahogany distress markers for the flowers.  Hope you enjoy!

Handmade Shadow Box

I wanted to share another project I finished in December.  This is a shadow box of my son and daughter-in-law with their 3rd baby girl Suri.  I did not have a shadow box and could not find one locally so I took a wooden frame that I had and then decided how many sections I wanted in it and then I glued a piece of chipboard to the back and drew out the sections I wanted on a piece of paper and then transferred the frame sections to cardboard so that it would be all one piece - I didn't want to cut strips and piece them together - I wanted the divider to be all one piece so I would not have to worry about seams.  I cut several of the strip dividers out of corrugated cardboard and glued them on top of each other to get the height I wanted and because the cardboard had the corrugation inside, when I was gluing them on top of each other I "smushed" some sections lower than others to give it a rather uneven look.  I decoupaged Collections Elements Tissue paper inside of the sections and then added some Tim Holtz tissue tape to the divider sections.  The heart in the top left corner I stamped with a Stampin' up stamp (don't remember the name of it) on tracing paper and then just added touches of color with Tim Holtz distress markers and then covered the top of it with glossy accents.  I took a piece of wire, wound it around a pencil several times to make a spiral and then attached a "love" charm and another dragonfly wing charm to it.  One of the butterflies sits on top of a button that I melted gold and silver embossing powder onto it.  Another butterfly sits on a piece of air dry clay that I also melted gold embossing powder on.  The Lock and key were brass colored and I wanted it to be silver and old and rusty looking so I painted them with silver paint and then melted silver embossing powder on them and when the heat was applied, the powder melted and the paint bubbled and then I distressed them with "Rusty Hinge" distress ink to give them a rusty appearance.  The half moon fan shape behind the lock and key was made from the Sizzix decorative strip die Mini Paper Rosettes and I just cut a portion of it off and glued it in a fan shape to the edge of the opening.  I also made the flower in the bottom right hand corner with that same die.  For the center of the flower, I also used a metal brad and heated it then dipped it in silver embossing power then spritzed it and the flower with glimmer mist Burnt Red and Haunted shadow.  The smaller photos were printed in black and white and I adhered them to the back of the frame with a couple of layers of cheesecloth behind them and then I printed words on a transparency sheet and glued it over the opening of both of the smaller photos.
