My teabag art for today is a collage piece using Jane Davenport collage napkins

My teabag art for today was on a used teabag that was primed with one coat of white gesso and then I did a collage with Jane Davenport Collage paper napkins for the background and the woman's head then added the body and painted with acrylic paints.  Details added with JD paint over pens, black permanent ink pen and posca pens.

Another Art Journal page completed following along with Jane Davenport's Fabulous Figures Book.  I used Acrylic paints, Posca Pens, Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks, Jane Davenport Power pastels, Liquitex iridescent medium on the dress.

Art Journal page - how far we travel in life...

I just finished this art journal page:  "How far we travel in life matters far less than who we meet along the way."  

This was inspired by a technique I saw Dina Wakley do where you stamp a face on both sides of a piece of white tissue paper so that when you adhere it to your page with matte medium, the faces are looking both directions.

My teabag art for today - my attempt again at a lady - referring to Jane Davenports Book "Fabulous Figures (notice no hands and no feet, LOL, they always look funky - need lots of practice)  This was painted on a used teabag with a coat of clear gesso and gouache paints.

May 11, 2018 Tea Bag Art for the day - Fabulous Figures Series

This is my tea bag art for May 11, 2018.  I'm really enjoying doing these tea bags, they are a little challenging to draw and paint on but so much fun.  This one was drawn following along with Jane Davenport's Fabulous Figures book.  I painted on one layer of gesso, drew my lady and then painted with a combination of watercolor and gouache.  Highlights were added with Jane's Magic wands, black permanent ink pen and white posca pen.

This Art journal page background also started out with leftover ink off of stencils from a previous project.  I added a bit more in the background include some stamping, and some stencil dots using distress inks.

I was trying to draw a "fabulous figre" using Jane Davenport's fabulous figures book.  This lady was painted using a combination of acrylic paints and watercolor.  

I added some Tim Holtz tissue paper, drywall tape that I painted green, chipboard elements I had in my stash and some flowers and leaves that I had stitched on muslin - painted with watercolor and then cut out, a bit of twine and this one was complete.

Jane Davenport Mixed Media Class play

I have always been a fan of Jane Davenport's style of painting women.  I recently purchased her "Beautiful Faces" and "Fabulous Figures" Books from her website and really enjoy playing in my journal.  

These particular drawings were done while taking her Mixed Media class that is available through her website.  She also has a facebook group that I belong to where you can post your "tries" and get feedback and encouragement from other members.

I have for some time been in awe of the beautiful faces and "girls" that Jane Davenport creates.

I ordered her Beautiful Faces Book and her Fabulous Figures Book and I'm so glad I did.

I don't draw well, but faces and figures are the worst for me so I decided to purchase these two books to see if they would help me learn to quickly and easily draw the female face and form.

I'm quite happy with this attempt.  I was watching one of her youtube videos where she shows how she draws with prisma colored pencils and I thought I would give it a go, although I have no colored pencils if you can believe it!!

I have prisma watercolor pencils and polychromo pencils so I thought I would do a couple of tests to see if I could come up with the same results by using what I had.

Here are the faces I completed and I've written on the journal what I used for each figure.

A new Art Journal page for the Jane Davenport's Washi Tape challenge and giveaway

I belong to the Jane Davenport facbook group and she is having a giveaway and the only rules are you have to do some sort of mermaid and you have to incorporate one or some of her washi tapes on the page.  On my page her washi tape is used in the hair of the large mermaid and the face of the small mermaid is from her washi tape.  Here is my entry into the giveaway:
