Art journal page finished in my small journal using Dusty concord, Peeled paint and broken china Distress inks, stencils, white acrylic paint, drew image on watercolor paper and painted with watercolors, alphabet stamp set, tab punch, typewriter.

Art Journal Page of my grand daughter with her "Goth Makeup"

On this art journal page I was trying to capture my beautiful grand daughter Suri in her Goth makeup as shown in this photo.  It's ok, but the hair just is not right.  I also have trouble figuring out supplies that I can use over acrylics to do my shading which I would prefer rather than using all acrylics.  I tried watercolor and that was ok but it really doesn't like to be painted over acrylics.

Anyway, my daughter-in-law has her eyes done like this about everyday and my granddaughter was trying her hand at trying to copy Mom.

I belong to a facebook group called Maremi's Creative Cafe and there was a lady on there who took one of her paintings and traced it onto fabric, added stitching on her sewing machine and then colored them in and added to purses.

I was so totally impressed with her work I asked her if I could use her idea of putting an original painting of mine to fabric and she said she was fine.  Check out the beautiful purses, pin cushions, and eyeglass cases that she makes.  They are truly lovely.  You can find her in the Cafe under Lupe Catts.

I used one of my paintings and traced it onto muslin (the female torso in jeans, flower, chanel bag and ugg boot) (a thickness of three pieces of muslin)  I stitched around the pieces and added details with my sewing machine and then colored the fabric pieces with watercolor.  After the fabric pieces had dried, I then heat set them with an iron.

Graffiti Art Journal page "Live, Love, Laugh

This is one of my favorite Journal pages.  I wanted to incorporate some graffiti words (that you could actually read, LOL!!) 

I drew them out on a piece of watercolor paper and then colored them with my watercolors.  For the "O" in love I made it a bomb and attached a short piece of twine for the wick (is that the right word?).

I used various stamps and stencils with my distress inks and oxide inks and created the background then added my title with some dimensional foam squares and then added black around the letters with my black charcoal pencil and paynes gray watercolor.

"One on One with Mom" Scrapbook layout of my grandson

This Layout was created of my grandson Jack.  It was such a beautiful photo of him - he is always soooooo happy.  I used a paper and embellishment pack from Aldi called "Gelato", Octagonal handmade stencil, black soot, wild honey and old paper distress inks, white gel pen, Pinwheel and file folder svg cut files from Lori Whitlock, Pennant and Arrows svg cut files from Lettering Delights, chain Link fence svg cut file created using  my scal software.

Happy Jack (Little Boy Layout of my grandson) Using DCWV Mainstreet Paper Collection

Hi Everyone, back again with another masculine layout.  This layout is of my grandson Jack.  He is such a Happy Baby and I wanted to document how when you look at him, he looks back, then when you start talking to him he slowly works his way into a smile.  He is always Happy and is such a joy to be around.  The products I used on this layout are from DCWV Mainstreet Collection.  I used the spellbinders on the edge die "notebook paper".  Fired brick and vintage photo distress inks were used for all of the pieces.  All die cut pieces are glued onto thin chipboard.  All of the arrows are on foam tape.  I used Glossy accents on two of the elements.  The small stamp shapes on the 4th photo were cut with my EK Success Postage stamp punch and the Sizzix ticket die.

Handmade Shadow Box

I wanted to share another project I finished in December.  This is a shadow box of my son and daughter-in-law with their 3rd baby girl Suri.  I did not have a shadow box and could not find one locally so I took a wooden frame that I had and then decided how many sections I wanted in it and then I glued a piece of chipboard to the back and drew out the sections I wanted on a piece of paper and then transferred the frame sections to cardboard so that it would be all one piece - I didn't want to cut strips and piece them together - I wanted the divider to be all one piece so I would not have to worry about seams.  I cut several of the strip dividers out of corrugated cardboard and glued them on top of each other to get the height I wanted and because the cardboard had the corrugation inside, when I was gluing them on top of each other I "smushed" some sections lower than others to give it a rather uneven look.  I decoupaged Collections Elements Tissue paper inside of the sections and then added some Tim Holtz tissue tape to the divider sections.  The heart in the top left corner I stamped with a Stampin' up stamp (don't remember the name of it) on tracing paper and then just added touches of color with Tim Holtz distress markers and then covered the top of it with glossy accents.  I took a piece of wire, wound it around a pencil several times to make a spiral and then attached a "love" charm and another dragonfly wing charm to it.  One of the butterflies sits on top of a button that I melted gold and silver embossing powder onto it.  Another butterfly sits on a piece of air dry clay that I also melted gold embossing powder on.  The Lock and key were brass colored and I wanted it to be silver and old and rusty looking so I painted them with silver paint and then melted silver embossing powder on them and when the heat was applied, the powder melted and the paint bubbled and then I distressed them with "Rusty Hinge" distress ink to give them a rusty appearance.  The half moon fan shape behind the lock and key was made from the Sizzix decorative strip die Mini Paper Rosettes and I just cut a portion of it off and glued it in a fan shape to the edge of the opening.  I also made the flower in the bottom right hand corner with that same die.  For the center of the flower, I also used a metal brad and heated it then dipped it in silver embossing power then spritzed it and the flower with glimmer mist Burnt Red and Haunted shadow.  The smaller photos were printed in black and white and I adhered them to the back of the frame with a couple of layers of cheesecloth behind them and then I printed words on a transparency sheet and glued it over the opening of both of the smaller photos.

Halloween in Wonderland paper by Graphic 45

Hi Everyone,

I haven't had a chance to post anything recently as I have been cross stitching a baby blanket for my new grandson due the end of January.  I will post a photo of the blanket when I finish.  I do have the cross stitching finished but I just need to wait to add name and birth information before I add batting and backing to it.

Here is a project I finished in November that I am going to give to my son.  He was born on Halloween so that holiday has always been special in our house and he also has always loved Alice in Wonderland, even now as an adult.  Sooooo - I had the Graphic 45 Paper line Called Halloween in Wonderland and had been saving it trying to decide what I wanted to do with it and this is what I came up with.

This box was a Kaisercraft storage unit that I have had for quite some time and I decided that was what I would decorate for my son.  The box came flat packed so I glued the box together and then I painted everything black.  I then sanded around the edges in places where it would get worn if it was in constant use and then added Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink to those sanded parts.  I fussy cut pieces out of the Graphic 45 paper, glued them onto several layers of very thin chipboard and cut around them and decoupaged them onto the drawer fronts.  On the top and bottom drawers I added some die cut pieces and then dry brushed over them with cream colored paint.  Then I sprayed a matt finish varnish over the whole piece.

My Best Friend and My #1 Inspiration

This is a scrapbook layout of Tim Holtz and my best friend.  Tim Holtz had come to Australia in June and had attended the Scrapbook and Paper Expo doing demonstrations and promoting new products.  He is my #1 inspiration and I was able to talk to him and get his autograph on my craft apron.  When he left Australia, one of his stops was Severn, MD and my best friend volunteered to work the night he was there.  She told him that I had met him in Brisbane and that I said HI! so he took this photo with her and the sign says "Hey Debbie, remember me?  I love it!  It was a scrapbook layout waiting to happen!
