Painting on a Used Tea Bag tutorial

This is a tutorial on how I painted this Cheshire cat on a used tea bag.  Please be patient with me - it's not the greatest video but I'm using trial and error on where to place my tripod and video camera so as not to interfere with me and so that I don't interfere with it and I haven't gotten it right yet.

This video shows one way to paint on your used tea bag.

Hope you enjoy and I hope you get inspiration to paint your own.  I would love to see what you do!

Tea Bag Art - BB8 from Star Wars

I just love the robots and creatures that are developed for the Star Wars series.  Here is my take on BB8 from Star Wars on a used Tea bag.  The tea bag was primed with one coat of gesso, I lightly drew the image with pencil and then used Prisma watercolor pencils, watercolor paints, Black permanent ink pen, and a white posca pen for details and highlights.

I'm trying to do a piece of tea bag art a day.

Thank you for looking!

Tea Bag art using Jane Davenport Beautiful Faces book

Ok, I need a lot more practice, LOL!!  I have Jane Davenport's Beautiful Faces book and Fabulous Figures Book and I am trying to practice drawing women's faces and figures.  This isn't great but I'll do some more practice!!

The tea bag was primed with one coat of gesso first and then I drew the face with a pencil.  I used gouache and watercolor to color her and then used a black permanet pen, Prisma watercolor pencils and a white Posca pen for shadows and highlights.

I hope this gives you inspiration to do your own tea bag art and I'd love to see what you do!!

Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland painted on a Used Tea Bag, Tea Bag Art

I had come across several people that had done artwork on used tea bags.  The most impressive to me is Ruby Silvious.  She does the most beautiful paintings on tea bags.

I have set myself a challenge to do a painting a day on a used tea bag.  This painting was done with gouache and watercolor and then outlined with a black permanent ink pen.  I did some shading with my prisma watercolor pencils and some highlights with my white Posca Pen.

Hope this gives you inspiration!!

Art Journal page titled "Bee...the voice of the garden:

This was my latest Art journal page.  In a previous post I had shown some gelli plate printing that I had done for the very first time and this kraft envelope was one of my gelli prints.

I decided I wanted to use that on a page and also wanted to add a counted cross stitch element.  I decided because of the colors in the gelli print that I would cross stitch a bee and honeycomb to use on this page.

I used some Tim Holtz tissue paper, white doily, some honeycomb stenciling on a piece of vellum, a Tim Holtz mixed media die set for the black honey comb element, some cheese cloth, muslin that I had added some distress oxide ink to for color and then stamped with faux stitching.  I attached the fabric pieces together with a safety pin and added to my page with fabric glue.

I hope you enjoy this and possibly find some inspiration!

Be Awesome Art Journal page

This Art journal page background also started out with leftover ink off of stencils from a previous project.  I added a bit more in the background include some stamping, and some stencil dots using distress inks.

I was trying to draw a "fabulous figre" using Jane Davenport's fabulous figures book.  This lady was painted using a combination of acrylic paints and watercolor.

I added some Tim Holtz tissue paper, drywall tape that I painted green, chipboard elements I had in my stash and some flowers and leaves that I had stitched on muslin - painted with watercolor and then cut out, a bit of twine and this one was complete.

Hope you enjoyed!

"I love dogs" Art Journal Page using Art Impressions Stackable Stamp

Another Art Journal page completed.  The background was actually created using the distress oxide inks left on my stencils after I used them on another project.

I really hate to waste product so I spray the stencil that has the leftover inks on it and press it against a blank journal page.  I liked this soft muted background so I didn't add anything else to it.

I stamped out the art impressions dog stackable stamp on watercolor paper and colored it with my watercolors.  I also stamped the bulldog, the little hot dog and the small dog at the top and fussy cut them and popped them up with foam dots.

I used chipboard elements and covered with decorative paper, some Heidi Swapp letters that I had leftover from a previous project, another stamp that I have that is a square block that has several different dogs, a fire hydrant and paw prints on it and also stamped them as additional elements to the page.  I added a white paper doily behind my letters, a piece of leftover acetate that had a graffiti design on it and then layered them all together for this finished layout.
