An art Journal page I completed last night "Breathe"

This is an art journal page I finished last night.  I love the easy quick pages.

The background was created with a piece of scratch paper that I had been using to clean acrylic paint off of my paint brush and stencils.  I loved it so much I tore a piece out and attached it to my journal page with gel medium, wrote breathe with liquid acrylic in a fine tip applicator and stamped the dragonfly with acrylic paint and it was done!

My teabag art for today - a gondolier carrying goods across the canal in Venice

My teabag art for the day - a gondolier we saw carrying goods across the canal in Venice.  Venice is one of my very favorite places.  I love it there.

I wanted to paint from a different photo we had taken of us riding in a Gondola in Venice at night but my skill set just isn't good enough to paint something at night to depict all of the lights and reflections - sooo... had to pick a different photo.

This was a used teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache.  Details added with a permanent black ink pen.

History of the gondolier:  driving an Italian gondola has always been very much a "closed shop".  The gondolier's licence used to be passed from father to son, or if there was no son, to another male family member.

These days it's even more difficult.  Every gondolier must belong to the thousand-year-old Gondolier's Guild which is strictly controlled.

He must find an experienced gondola driver to act as mentor, attend four hundred house of instruction, and later pass a rigorous examination which tests not only physical endurance but navigational skills, knowledge of other langages and, most importantly, knowledge of Venice's culture and sights.

My teabag art for today - the colorful Houses/shops in Burano, Italy, the home of italian lacemaking

This is my teabag art for today - the colorful houses/shops in Burano, Italy - the home of Italian Lace making.  We saw a demonstration of the centuries old way they make this lovely lace.  Each lady has a 9 year apprenticeship to become an expert at one particular stitch.  It is then passed to other ladies for them to add their design until the piece is finished.  This was a used teabag primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and gouache.  Details added with black permanent ink pen.

My teabag art for today is the Statue of David In Florence, Italy

My teabag art for the day.  David is a masterpiece of Renaissance Sculpture created in marble between 1501 and 1504 by Italian artist Michelangelo.  david is 5.17 metre (17 ft) marble statue of a standing male nude.  The statue represents the Biblical hero David, a favored subject in the art of Florence.

I'll have to say that I didn't realize it was so tall, but the detail is unbelievable right down to the veins, muscle, bone structure and fingernails.  This used teabag was primed with white gesso and painted with gouache.  Details added with black permanent ink pen.

My teabag art for today - Watercolor of our trek by Camel to a Berber Camp

My teabag art for the day.  On our visit to Morocco, one of the greatest highlights for me was we took a camel trek to a Berber camp.  Our food was cooked outside on a campfire in a Tajine, then we spent the night in the tents and were up to watch the sunrise from the dunes, although I have to admit, they were so high and you would try to climb them and the sand would slide you back down.  I ended up only making it half way up, LOL!!!  This teabag was primed with clear gesso and painted with watercolor and details added with black permanent ink pen.

My teabag art for the day - view across Westminster Bridge to Big Ben

My teabag art for the day.  This was an unused teabag.  I used it because I wanted to depict mist and fog and I needed to leave shite in the background to accomplish this.  Anyway, I primed it with clear gesso and used exclusively watercolor for this one in Payne's Gray.  This is a view of Big Ben across Westminster Bridge in London from a photo we took on a very cloudy, misty, foggy day.

Another Completed Art Journal page: Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal

Another art journal page completed in my Dina Wakley Journal on the Burlap page.  I stitched the title with thin cotton yarn.  The background was done with scribble sticks.

My paper doll was drawn by referencing Jane Davenport's Fabulous Figures Book.  I colored the paper doll by using the scribble sticks as watercolor.  The clothes were cut out of patterned paper and striped vellum.  I attached the purse with a bit of chain and 2 jump rings and her necklace are seed beads on thread.

The tag and arrows were created on my Ranger Gel press plate using acrylic paints and stencils.

My teabag art for the day is the Ponte Vecchio in Florence Italy

My teabag art for the day:  The Ponte Vecchio is a medieval stone closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge over the Arno River, in Florence, Italy, noted for still having shops built along it, as was once common.

Boy what shops it has!  There is so much jewelry on display it makes your head spin.  I love this place!  This was painted on a used teabag with a gessoed background and painted with gouache - a black permanent ink pen was used for the details.

I just finished this art journal page:  "How far we travel in life matters far less than who we meet along the way."

Art Journal page using Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks

This Art journal page started with some decoupage (using matte medium) of some scrapbook papers.  My lady was scribbled with Dina Wakley scribble sticks and then they were activated with water.  I added cheddar, umber and blushing and then redefined her face with the black scribble stick. I stamped my sentiment with black ink but it didn't show up so I went over it with my white posca pen.

My teabag art for today Using an Art Impressions Stamp

This was a used teabag that I primed with clear gesso and then stamped with ranger black archival ink and the Art Impressions Stamp UMM3176 and then painted with watercolor and gouache.  The text says "The simple things that fill our lives bring the greatest joy"

My teabag art for today - Margarita imitating the Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Cocktail Blueprint series of stamps

LOL, my favorite drink - I have always loved the Tim Holtz/stampers anonymous blueprint stamp series.  I have this Cocktail Blueprint series on my wishlist - but even if I had it it would not fit on a teabag so I decided to try to duplicate it in miniature.

This is a used tea bag but some of the tea does not leave much in the way of marks when it dries - the tag is missing from this one but I believe it was Chamomile tea.

This one is primed with clear gesso and then I used gouache to paint the image - I used a white posca pen and black permanent ink pen for details.

Art journal Page: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song" Maya Angelou

I started with the page on the left and then the page after I cut off just leaving about an inch sticking out from the center spine so that I could glue a tag to it.

This page was primed with white gesso and texture paste was added to the page through a stencil (no name on stencil so not sure where it came from).  Once the testure paste was dry, I added ShinHan watercolor and sprayed it with water to get it to bleed and run into each other.  After the watercolor was dry, I fitted the stencil back over the texture paste design and added Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter gel over some of the texture (I LOVE THIS STUFF!!)

I then had some shipping tags my husband brought home from work for me in various colors (this one was originally green)  I primed the tag with one coat of white gesso and then I slapped on some lime and navy acrylic paint and blended them with a dry brush with white gesso on it.  I stamped the 2 circles with stitching with a stamp set from Carabelle Studio #SA6018R in Colorbox white pigment ink.  I then stamped some screen texture with some No name stamps I have in Momento nautical blue ink.  I added some Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter gel through DecoArt stencil 201705.

I stamped the bird (Dark Room Door "Garden Birds" stamp set) on watercolor paper using Ranger Jet Black archival ink - then colored it with ShinHan watercolors.  I added drywall tape and cheesecloth and Martha Stewart punch of leaf clusters behind the bird and glued it down.  I then die cut the birds on a wire which was a die I got from the Craft Queen stall at the Brisbane Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo.  I glued the tag to the little one in piece of the adjoining page and then trimmed the piece down to the shape of the tag.

My teabag art for the day - Abstract flowers

My teabag art for today - another abstract - on this one I just followed the lines on the tea bag that were made as the tea leaves dried inside the bag and they ended up looking like abstract flowers.  This was painted with ShinHan watercolors and outlined with a black elegant writer and when activated with water, gave me this beautiful blue/black bleed in the background.
