Happy Birthday Card For Mom

This is a Birthday card that I made for my mother for her birthday in December.  I was inspired by the beautiful card that Aly Dosdal Designed here:  http://scrapbookandcardstodaymag.typepad.com/scrapbook_cards_today_blo/2012/09/chevron-tutorial-with-aly-dosdalland-one-more.html
She also includes a pdf file for the paper bow that you can download.

The card base is approximately 5 1/4 by 7 7/8".  The papers that I used were from DCWV "The Linen Closet Stack".  I also used My Minds Eye Hazel "Special" Dotty Damask Paper because the paper from the Linen Closet Stack is not double sided and I needed a doubled sided paper for the Chevron Design.  I also used a scrap of beige ribbon on the card.

The label is from Die-namics called Polka Dot Greetings - it includes the label die and three different stamps that stamp a pattern on the die cut and 3 different greetings.  I love their die/stamp sets.  Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.  Happy creating!

Two additional Xmas Cards for my friends and Family 2012

Hi Everyone,
Just adding more Xmas cards that I made to mail out this year.  I started out making the Xmas card for everyone that I have posted below with the Sleigh but I needed to make 26 and I got tired of piecing the sleigh together after card number 7!  So I decided to make another card that would not be so involved for the rest of them.

I took white bazzil cardstock and embossed it with a snowflake design but I used my brayer and rolled beige and green chalk ink on the debossed side of the embossing folder so that when it embossed the design, the snowflakes would remain white.  I used a chipboard frame on both cards and placed a Collections Elements scrolled label with a small piece of cheesecloth behind it on top of the chipboard label.  I stamped the word Joy on the label.  The snowflakes were cut using my Cricut personal die cutter and a Penny Duncan free svg cut file.  I cut two different styles of snowflakes out of thin chipboard, painted them with white acrylic paint and then painted glue over the top and added fine white glitter to them and then touched white paint to the edges and added a rhinestone in the middle.

To finish them off, I added a white satin bow and some rick rack trim across the bottom.

You Are So Beautiful

This is another scrapbook page of my granddaughter Suri taken on her 2nd birthday.  The paper collection I used was from Kaisercraft the Dancing Jewel Collection - this paper is double sided called Quartz.  I used both sides.  I love the colours in this paper.  I started out on the background paper by using a 12X12 template (stencil) by The Crafter's workshop called Flutterby.  I used texture paste to put the butterfly design on the right side of the paper.  The texture paste is somewhat transparent when it dries so you can still see the paper design through the butterflies.  I then used a free svg cut file called "Gothic Gate" that I got from svgcuts.com and I painted the base of it plum and after that dried I painted crackle medium on it and let dry, then painted cream on top and you can slightly see the plum colour through the cracks in the paint.  I designed the svg cut files for my fuchsia flowers and the svg cut of my granddaughter Suri.  I put the paper doll behind the wheelbarrow to make it look like she is sitting in the wheelbarrow.  The wheelbarrow was stamped with "Stamps Happen, Inc." stamp #60024 wheelbarrow and then I cut it out and added some handmade flowers to it.  The "You are Beautiful" label is from a die cut and stamp set by Die-namics called Polka Dot Greetings.  I really love the De-namics sets because you get several mix and match stamps that can be used on the die cut made from the die that comes with the stamps.

Hi Everyone,
I just had to share this photo with you.  I Met Tim Holtz at the Scrapbook and Paper Expo in Brisbane Australia in June and a friend of mine (featured with him in this photo) was lucky enough to meet him at some classes near her home in Severn, Maryland and I asked her to tell him that he met me in Brisbane and that he talked to me and signed my craft apron for me - this was his response!  I just love it!!!!  This will have to be my next scrapbook page!  Thank you Tim for being so sweet.  You are my biggest inspiration!

Christmas in July Challenge at Scrappy-go-Lucky

Hi Everyone,
I am entering this card in a challenge at  http://blog.scrappy-go-lucky.com.au/  and the challenge was for Christmas in July celebration.  You were to create a card with your cricut machine and you had to use something on the card that you wouldn't normally see on a xmas card.

I had been speaking on facebook recently with a friend that I made while on a trip in Morocco in June and we talked about our Camel ride and that was my inspiration for this card.

The camel and reindeer antlers was cut from the Paper doll dress up cartridge and the ovals were cut from George and basic shapes.  The scallop was cut using a free svg file I got from a search on the internet a while back from Cafe expressions.  Believe it or not, I even pieced together the string of lights woven through his antlers using tiny ovals and rectangles that I welded together for the base and then just using the ovals I cut them in different colors.  I cut double for each light and glued a piece of heavy uphostery thread in the center.

My little camel is dressed up as a reindeer and has a string of lights and a wreath to celebrate the season!  I cut an oval of cardstock in green and cut a smaller oval out of the center for the wreath.  Using the stamp set "Floral Wreath SFL 34011 (which I believe is from www.rubberstamptapestry.com but I purchased it at my local store here near me in Aspley - they no longer have a physical store - only an online store.)  I stamped all of the images in different colors and fussy cut them out and then glued them randomly to my wreath.  I then added glitter glue to the lights and some of the flowers on the wreath.

The paper set is from Reminisce - it was a xmas paper I got several years ago and had some leftover.  One paper was called St Nick's sweater - not sure what the other was called because it was a scrap and the edge was cut off.

I would love to win the challenge because I would love to have the cricut xmas cartridge that is the prize!  Thank you everyone for looking!

Scrapbook Page for My desk

This is a "Scrapbook Page" for my desk.  I made all of the flowers and leaves, the bead sprays and the stick pin.  The frame was a plain wooden frame stained brown so I sanded it and painted it pale rose then put a crackle medium on it and then painted white over that.  I then tore pieces out of the top layer of a paper napkin and decoupaged them to the frame.

Martha Stewarts fine glitter (the brides dress overlay is covered in white glitter)
White and black grossgrain ribbon
White and black cardstock
Flower bouquet made out of "confetti" I made with my 1/7" hole punch and glued to tiny circles
leaves cut with a sizzlit die
Thanks for looking!

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share a card that I made for my cousins wedding.  I don't remember what pack the paper came from, it was a scrap leftover from another project a while ago but the card base is white with a black mat and then the foiled black and silver and white patterned paper.  Then I cut a black scalloped circle about 3 1/2" and a white circle about 2 3/4".  I ran the white circle through my cuttlebug using the swiss dots embossing folder.  The Bride and Groom are free cutfiles I found on adamsacres.com.  I cut the shadow in black and then cut the other pieces in different colors on my Cricut.  I highlighted the black tuxedo pieces with white ink, covered the white dress overlay with a thin layer of glue and sprinkled fine white glitter on it and inked the body pieces with antique linen (Tim Holtz), the Brides hair with a dark gold ink, and the grooms hair with vintage photo (Tim Holtz).  I then cut 3 small circles as a base and then using my 1/8" hole punch I punched out "confetti" in different colors and glued to the circles for the bouquet.  The small leaves are from a sizzlits die that I have had for ages.  I glued on white pearlescent seed bead on her ear and strung 4 more on thread and glued at the back of the neck.  The sentiment is mounted on a filligree label - these were printed on white on a sheet of cardstock.  I got them at a class I took and I scanned the label page and print them on cardstock and use them frequently on my cards.  I printed the Mr and Mrs on my computer using white cardstock, glued the label to black cardstock and then cut around the label leaving about a 1/4" border of black.  I cut slits on both sides of the swiss dot circle and threaded grossgrain white/black ribbon through it and tied a knot.  The only things I put on pop dots were the Bride and groom and the label.  Thanks for looking!

Just Me at 23

This is a photo of a Letterpress tray that I made in another class at the Expo.  The Instructor was Julie Van Oosten using Collections papers and chipboard and Craft Queen trims.  I did not get this one on video before I sent it to my son - I made it for him for his birthday and since I was sending him a package of things that I got for he and his family from our trip to Italy and Morocco, I included it in the package so didn't get a chance to video it.

Antique Cards

This is another class that I took - Antique Gift Card set with Julie Van Oosten  using the Creative Folder, Papers from the Artists Collections and Antique Rose Extra Pack, Chipboard Plaques, Elegant Labels & Ornamental Sheets, Tissue paper, (she got them from www.collectionselements.com - wholesale only) but you can browse.  Here is a link to my video showing a little more detail.  I also am adding a card that I made using the same design style and some of the leftover paper.  It is a congratulations card to my step son for graduating his masters program with honors.

Pretty Paper Craft Cards and Scrapbook Pg with Leftovers

This was a class that I had taken at the Brisbane Scrapbooking and Papercraft Expo - I had told the teacher that I would never have chosen the paper but it made some beautiful cards.  I'll be more open when looking at paper now.   The first 3 cards were Jane Clark's (the instructor's) designs - the last two cards and the scrapbook page I designed with the leftover papers and die cuts.  Here is a link to the video with a little more information:    Pretty Paper craft cards and Layout
